She's finished her book~

Hi alien lovers,

It’s doooone!! I finished writing Perilous Love Stars!!! Slay!!!

It’s over 105k words, which is a lot, and way more than any book I’ve ever written before.

I’m actually really looking forward to editing the next draft. I began writing this story in late 2023 as a portfolio piece for the Creative Writing Master’s program at UBC. (Big up to Katica, who was one of the first pair of eyes on Maple’s journey!) Two years later, I found my voice through crafting this book, as well as my brand—sexyaliens.ca—and experienced a great deal of creative joy.

A lot has happened since I wrote Chapter 1, and I’m excited to use the editing phase to expand and polish what I wrote. Instead of rushing through edits to publish the story as soon as possible, I’m going to respect and welcome the pace of the creative process.

One of my writing groups is going to read the last few chapters in a couple of weeks, while another group is giving me new perspectives on the first 10 chapters. The goal is to publish the best version of this book possible, one that I am proud of enough to use as a business card for the platform I'm building.

That being said, I hope to send new chapters in this newsletter before the end of the year. You will read the end of Maple's adventure first, unpolished, and yet, so, so delicious.
